AI Stack Guide: Tools, Costs, and Workflows

Build an AI stack around the work you need to finish. This guide connects budget choices, task delegation, and checks before connecting tools or publishing results. Follow the three steps below, then keep the parts that fit your own workflow.

This reading path was reviewed on October 30, 2026. Linked articles keep their original publication dates and describe particular examples. Check current product terms, usage limits, and prices before using an older configuration.

Build a workable stack in three steps

  1. Choose a budget approach. Read the free-tier stack example for its layers and tradeoffs, or the small-budget subscription example for its division of tools. Compare the tasks each layer covers and the limitations you would need to manage; the article titles are not quotes for a current monthly bill.
  2. Decide what to delegate. Use the content-work delegation guide to think through which stages need your judgment and which outputs you can check. Write a deliverable and acceptance criteria for one task before extending the process.
  3. Plan the connections and the final checks. Read the MCP production guide for access boundaries, then the AI-to-WordPress workflow overview for the stages of a publishing pipeline. Define who checks sources, saved files, and the actual published result before putting those stages together.

Evaluate one complete task

Pick a task you already understand and record the tool, input material, expected result, review time, and actual usage. Inspect a complete attempt before adding another subscription or integration. Use that evidence to decide which parts of the stack to keep.
